She enlisted her sister Anndrea Gutierrez to help and the two set out to map the operations of a pet-focused amenity serving luxury apartments and hotels in the L.A. area.

Fast forward a year later and Balanced Dog Grooming (BDG) serves five Greystar locations and a Marriot Hotel. Co-founder Torina says, "We're not a mobile dog groomer in that we don't have a van, but we have a trailer and popup tent for bathing and grooming." 

With one groomer and two bathers on staff, they rotate the days depending on the needs and dogs scheduled. For example, Wednesday is dog grooming day at L.A.'s Marina Harbor while Thursday is a bath-only day at another location giving their groomer the day off.

Torina explains, "People can book their dog grooming through our website using the Easy Busy Pets scheduler. Then on the appointed day, our groomer and bather show up at the site and the residents know we're there for their building."  

Torina says they accommodate walk-ins when possible but encourage bookings via their website. "If someone wants to walk in and we're full, we can book them for the following week." 

A recent Easy Busy Pets customer, she's thrilled with the pet business software. The new smart scheduling feature is especially exciting. "It gives our groomer more information about the dogs. She can log in to the website and see all the client notes including the dog breed, type of dog hair, and any ailments. It helps with planning the day and knowing when to take breaks and lunch."  

Torina's gotten the word out about Balanced Dog Grooming in many ways. Greystar includes BDG as an amenity in the buildings they serve. There's also a community element such as the recent special events that draw people from the surrounding area.

Last year's Halloween event included a pet parade, treats for the dogs, a bar for the adults, and candy for the kids. At Christmas, they hired a company that made real snow. "All the huskies who live in the Marina came out and had fun digging in the snow."  

The sisters and staff of BDG have even taken a turn as cover models. "One of our clients works with PLPG as their creative director so she asked if we wanted to be featured." Looking glamorous in sparkling evening gowns, they've appeared on the covers of Luxury Trending, Latina, and Pedigree Magazines.

The LA-native's always been an animal lover. "I grew up with Pit Bulls, chickens, and rabbits right in LA. Now I live in an apartment so I have small dogs. A teacup Goldendoodle Jade and a mini schnauzer, Olivia. I also have two Tabby cats, Zeus and Cornelius. My sister has an English bulldog, Charles."  

When asked about the future, Torina says they're looking forward to partnering with other organizations. From additional luxury apartments to hotels to pet-friendly businesses. "There's a place in L.A. called DogPPL @dogppl.co, it's a members-only dog park combined with amenities for pet owners, like a bar and smoothie bar. We'd love to partner with them one day! We could offer a bath for dogs after romping around the dog park. We do have clients in common. BUT that's a big future hope, so fingers crossed!"

They're also launching a blog soon. Referencing Easy Busy Pets pet business software Torina says, "They are very attentive, very responsive. EBP does things right. When I saw the demos, I thought this is exactly what we need. It's been a joy to use it."
