Wendy and Steve Abraham are the owners of Boogie N Pals, a dog-walking and pet-sitting company in New Jersey, serving North Bergen, Edgewater, Cliffside Park, Guttenberg and West New York. With their love for pets and dedication to the pet parents, this duo is conquering the hearts and trust of their four-legged and two-legged clients.
The company is named after their beloved dog, "Boogie", who was rescued after Hurricane Sandy that hit New York in 2012. His name came from his spunky personality that resonated from where he came from (The Boogie Down Bronx), which is a nick name for the borough in NYC. Being dedicated pet parents themselves and both coming from social work and psychology backgrounds, Wendy and Steven are attuned to listening and understanding their clients, both pets and their pet parents. This is why customer service, accountability and pet safety are their top priorities.
We've reached out to Steven to tell us about their inspiration behind the business, what makes them unique and how HappyGoMobile has helped them in running their business.
What inspired you to start a pet service business?
"After earning a master's degree from Silberman School of Social Work in NYC, I worked a few years as a clinician with various clients. I have seen the positive impact that pets or just simple interactions with patients outside of the agencies have on the patients. When I've seen them with dogs, everything the patients were dealing with would take a back seat. Both Wendy and I wanted to continue working with pets and people as we started our own small business. We found that a pet service business is very fulfilling and rewarding. It doesn't feel like work to us, it's our passion. We felt like our experience and dedication to pets could bring something unique to this service area."
What makes your business unique?
"Customer service and pet safety are our top priority. We see "Uber" inspired pet service providers popping up, but many of these companies lack customer accountability and transparency. You never know who is taking care of your dog, whether they have the right credentials, experience and qualifications. We treat our clients' pets as our own. Wendy and I personally take the time to get to know the pets and their 2-legged parents. We also want to know their likes and dislikes. We ensure that every pet is happy and safe, and every pet parent is confident that they're leaving their 4-legged friend in good hands. Something that makes us unique is that we listen to the pets. We have experience working with dogs of all ages, sizes and with various disabilities. We are also licensed, bonded and insured. We are Pet 1st Aid and CPR certified. Customer Service and pet safety are at the top of our list."
What are your business goals? Where do you see your business in 5 years?
"We are working towards a full-service that includes boarding, training and grooming. We are also working on expanding our client base. "
What was going on in your business that sent you looking for a solution like ours?
"We were using another tool in our day to day operations prior to HappyGoMobile. That system had too many glitches. We had to continuously uninstall and reinstall the program. We needed a solution we could trust."
