For this Client Spotlight, we are excited to feature Jose Menendez and his Team from K9 Experts in NJ. Back in 2009, Jose decided to start his pet business, K9 Experts. A year and a half later he was able to move to a better location where he eventually opened his own Doggie Daycare. He continued to expand into multiple counties in New Jersey.

We reached out to Jose to hear his story.

Why did you get into this business?

I came to the United States to help run a restaurant, but that didn't work out. Looking for other opportunities, I happened to walk by a Doggie Daycare in West Orange NJ and got hired that very day! At the time, I didn't know I would fall in love with this type of work and my dream came true!

There is nothing better than working with dogs and learning about them.

I graduated from a Dog Grooming and Training School, and I continue to learn new things every day.

What is the most fulfilling part of owning a pet care business?

Dealing with dogs everyday, there is nothing more rewarding than that. You learn and you grow with them, and they help you to get better everyday. Dogs show you love if you treat them well.

What was your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?

Becoming a professional pet care provider didn't happen overnight. With patience and hard work I was able to learn the business. Some challenges I faced:

• It took a lot of time to get my first customer
• I didn't start out with any experience
• I had no connections or clients that could refer me

I was able to overcome these challenges with my performance and dedication. My passion for my job and the dogs in my care really showed, and my pet care business started to grow.

How do you feel now, working with Easy Busy Pets?

The Easy Pets software definitely was a game changer. And after a few tutorials it just got easier and easier. I already had a website and was able to integrate both my current site and Easy Busy Pets software easily with all the features the system has to offer. I noticed the customer experience and features keep improving!

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to achieve what you have achieved?

Don't be afraid to ask anything you can't understand, that's how you learn. The more you ask the more answers you'll get and things will just improve for you. Don't let anyone tell you this is a Hobby or it's not going to work! When you set your mind to succeed at something, no one can stop you. Do your homework, go online, and make sure you keep learning! More importantly, be good to your clients.
